Do you like to be the best at everything you do? Not many people like to lose, and you probably don’t either. What if brushing your teeth became a competition? What would a “win” look like for the tooth-brushing competitors?
What if we suggested that you go head-to-head with someone in a dental tooth-brushing event? Would you interest be sparked? Would your competitive juices begin to flow and you would exclaim, “Bring it on!” You know you’ve been “training” for this ever since you were a toddler.
During the brushing event, judges would evaluate your brushing by looking for the most optimal brushing techniques.
- You can score a judge’s perfect 10 if you brush at a 45-degree angle to your gums.
- Judges will be looking to make sure you’re gently brushing your teeth in back and forth (the width of your teeth) strokes.
- All surfaces of your teeth should be brushed (outer, inner and chewing surface) for an award-winning tooth brushing.
- The inside surface of your front teeth should be brushed by tilting your brush vertically and making several up-and-down strokes for optimal brushing technique.
If you execute these techniques twice a day with a soft-bristled brush and ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste, you will be well on your way to winning a medal and hearing the crowds cheer wildly! But, if you don’t typically brush in front of crowds or against another person, visit our dental experts at Jefferson Dental Care. We will give you a high-five and encourage you to continue your award-winning dental care at home. Keep up the great work dental athletes!
